DAY 1: Broome – Swift Bay
Your Exploration Quest begins with a scenic flight from Broome, tracing the dramatic Kimberley coastline to the Mitchell Plateau. From here, you’ll board a helicopter for an unforgettable aerial journey over the spectacular Mitchell Falls, before landing directly on the helipad of the Kimberley Quest II. You’ll be welcomed aboard by your captain and crew, then enjoy a buffet lunch while at anchor. In the afternoon, join a tender excursion to explore the renowned rock art sites of Swift Bay, home to some of the region’s most impressive Gwion Gwion (Bradshaw) and Wandjina art.
DAY 2: Swift Bay
This morning, we marvel at the diversity of Indigenous rock art styles found in and around Swift Bay. This afternoon we move to anchor under the stunning monolith of Palm Island and explore a maze of sandstone bays and inlets in search of a fleeting monjon: Australia’s smallest rock wallaby! Try your luck to land the big one in one of the many tidal creeks!
Day 3: Montague Sound, Bigge Island
Today we continue our journey cruising through Montague Sound. Witness the rugged terrain and ancient weathered rocks from Kimberley Quest II. Arrive mid-afternoon at Bigge Island, one of the largest sandstone islands and home of the Gwion Gwion and Wandjina Art with a maritime theme.
DAY 4: York Sound, Hunter River
This morning we explore York Sound. This area is renowned for its turquoise seas, varied geology and spectacular sea caves. This afternoon we explore the spectacular Hunter River, one of the most scenic rivers for a relaxing ride in the tenders, as we spot ancient rock art, crocodiles and flying foxes, taking in the flora and fauna of the Kimberley spending the evening on anchor at Porosus Creek.
DAY 5: Careening Bay, Roe River
Today we cruise up the Roe River witnessing one of the highest crocodile populations in the Kimberley! Relax on board while we cross Prince Frederick Harbour to visit a Wandjina art site. We then visit Careening Bay, site of an ancient boab tree first visited in 1820 by Phillip Parker King while on hydrographic survey off the Australian coastline before heading out to sea for another spectacular sunset as the sun sinks below the Kimberley horizon.
DAY 6: Prince Regent River, King Cascade
Early morning we cruise through St George Basin, a stunning inland sea. Leaving the vista of mighty Mt Trafalgar and Mt Waterloo, we cruise up the Prince Regent River, marveling at the pristine waterway that cuts through sandstone cliffs and gorges. Arriving at King Cascade, which is spring fed, marvel at the rush of water cascading in breathtaking tiers, surrounded by lush ferns and a myriad of wildlife. Climb above the falls for an unforgettable swim in a stunning freshwater pool. Be rewarded with a breathtaking view over the magnificent Prince Regent River in the distance - wilderness adventuring at its best! Late afternoon join our guides for an excursion to Cathedral Falls, spotting crocodiles and flying foxes. Alternatively, fish the Prince Regent River renowned for big barra and threadfin salmon.
DAY 7: Camden Harbour, Kuri Bay
Today we visit Camden Harbour, the forlorn settler's graves on Sheep Island and soak up the history of the first European settlement in the 1860s. Relax on board as we cruise past Augustus Island and the remote pearling settlement of Kuri Bay. In the afternoon join a tender excursion for a spot of exploration. Have a go fishing or collect rock oysters, before unwinding on the sundeck to take in the magnificence of this region.
DAY 8: Montgomery Reef, Red Cone Creek, Collier Bay
Early morning we explore Montgomery Reef, which covers more than $180 \text{km}^2$, making it Australia's largest inshore reef. Watch as the tide falls right before your eyes, creating a spectacular waterfall effect. Take a tender ride to view many marine species, including turtles and sea birds. Enjoy a cruise past the iconic Raft Point and Steep Island to Red Cone Creek for a refreshing swim at Ruby Falls or try your luck at mud crabbing. This afternoon we take you fishing in Collier Bay; a chance to catch the elusive barramundi!
DAY 9: Dugong Bay, Talbot Bay, Horizontal Falls
Today we take a scenic tender excursion in and around Dugong Bay and cool off with a refreshing swim in one of the freshwater pools. Around the corner lies Talbot Bay, home to one of the icons of the Kimberley coast, the spectacular Horizontal Falls. Join a tender excursion for an up-close view of this natural phenomenon. In the afternoon you have the opportunity for a scenic excursion up Cyclone Creek on a tender to marvel at the amazing rock formations.
DAY 10: Buccaneer Archipelago, Cape Leveque
Join a tender excursion for a spot of exploration, and have a go at fishing before unwinding on the sundeck to take in the beautiful scenery. Today we cruise through the thousands of islands of the Buccaneer Archipelago, cross the vast King Sound, passing Cape Leveque at sunset. This could be an opportunity to sight humpback whales.
DAY 11: Broome
Arrive at Broome early morning. Enjoy your final breakfast on board before farewelling the captain and crew of the Kimberley Quest II. Disembarkation is at approximately 8:00am, followed by a courtesy transfer to your accommodation or the airport concluding your unforgettable Kimberley voyage.
