Who can participate in our cruises?
All Kimberley Quest II cruises cater for all adult ages and levels of fitness.
Expeditions are styled to suit individual needs.
Sit back and unwind in the tranquil surroundings or get involved and participate in every excursion. The choice is yours. After all, it is your holiday!
Our cruises are not generally suitable for children due to the nature of the expeditions. Please contact our office for terms and conditions regarding children.
What we provide onboard our Kimberley Quest II cruises
All transfers are provided between your accommodation and the Kimberley Quest II. Expeditions departing or arriving in Wyndham also include transfer to and from Kununurra to the vessel.
Our cruises include all meals, complimentary soft drinks, daily excursions (excluding additional scenic flights) and linen, including excursion towels. Fresh Kimberley style gourmet cuisine is prepared by our onboard chef. All dietary requirements and special needs and occasions are catered for on our cruises.
Additional costs
The following are not included in the passenger cost:
- Alcoholic beverages and mixers. We provide a ‘Drinks List’ so you can pre-order your alcoholic beverages and mixers through us.
- Kimberley Quest merchandise
- Use of satellite phone / facsimile
- Additional scenic helicopter flights
- Airfares and pre / post accommodation are not included in the price although we are happy to assist or advise you with your accommodation arrangement.
Reserving a Booking
A completed booking form, signed terms and conditions and a non refundable deposit of 20% is required within 14 days of booking to confirm your reservation.
Pre / Post Accommodation
Pre-post accommodation is not included in the price however; as we are local and knowledgeable on this area we are happy to provide you with our expert opinion on availability for accommodation and our recommendations.
If your cruise is in the months of June, July or August we advise that you book your accommodation as early as possible as this is a peak period in the Kimberley. Please contact our office should you require assistance or if you would like us to help arrange accommodation for you.
What to bring onboard?
Clothing - Casual lightweight / quick-dry clothing is recommended for excursions. Long pants and long sleeve tops for evenings are advisable as it can get cool at night. Smart casual dress is required for dining.
Shoes - A pair of walking / hiking shoes with good ankle support and shoes that you don’t mind getting wet (reef booties or equivalent) and a separate pair to wear onboard are recommended.
Personal Items - You will be required to bring your own toiletries and any relevant medications. Motion sickness preventative is also recommended to bring onboard if you are worried about getting motion sickness. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash are supplied in your ensuite. Sun protection and insect repellent are available onboard but you may wish to bring your own. Bathroom and excursion towels are provided.
Accessories - We recommend that you bring a small day pack / bag for excursions to carry your water bottles, cameras, hats and sunglasses. Binoculars are optional.
Luggage – We recommend that you pack lightly for your cruise onboard the Kimberley Quest II. All luggage brought onboard the Kimberley Quest II should be in soft bags for easy storage. A maximum baggage allowance of 10kg per person on our 7 day cruises. (Due to light-aircraft flight) A baggage allowance of 20kg per person is allowed on 13 Day cruises. If you have any additional spare luggage you may leave it at our safe and secure office.
Drinks / Beverages
We offer a comprehensive beverage list for you to pre-order from and will stock your cabin accordingly. If you require any items not listed, please advise us and we will endeavour to supply your beverage needs. Please note that where an item is not available at time of order an equivalent substitute will be used. Payment will be collected at the conclusion of your cruise.
The Kimberley Quest II also carries a small selection of spirits, beer, wine and mixers for purchase on board. These may be purchased by the bottle, (in the case of spirits and wine) or by the six pack, block or carton (beer) & by the can (for mixers).
If you prefer to bring your own beverages onboard please contact our office, well in advance as we have luggage restrictions and will need to arrange delivery with you.
Fruit juices are offered daily with breakfast, however if you require large quantities of this or any drinks in particular please let our office know at your earliest convenience so we can arrange this prior to your cruise.
Complimentary soft drinks are available onboard and can be found in the drinks fridge in the saloon area.
Kimberley Quest II produces their own water onboard allowing you to have unlimited chilled fresh water available. We do have bottled water available as well for purchase.
Tea and coffee facilities with a cappuccino machine are available 24 hours a day.
Cuisine
Pearl Sea Coastal Cruises offers ‘ buffet style’ cuisine providing you with a variety of freshly prepared meals, including freshly caught fish, Kimberley oysters and mud crabs which are prepared by our talented onboard chef. A choice of meal options are presented to cater for all preferences with an emphasis on locally sourced fresh produce.
Some signature Kimberley Quest II dishes include:
- Grilled Barramundi, (freshly caught by you!) encrusted with lime, coriander and our chefs special seasoning
- Rosemary and garlic roasted lamb racks with wok tossed Kimberley style greens
- Whole baked Mangrove Jack with local Broome style mango and lime salsa
- Rich chocolate truffle mud cake served with fresh cream and raspberry coulis.
After a morning’s excursion, indulge yourself in some freshly baked muffins or one of chefs other delectable treats. One thing is for sure; it’s not a good time to start a diet when onboard the Kimberley Quest II!
All dietary requirements can be catered for onboard, including special occasions. Please notify us at your earliest convenience so this can be arranged prior to your cruise.
Excursions
Excursions are operated throughout the day offering a variety of options.
From scenic tender rides, fishing, discovering rock art, bush walking (treks vary in difficulty and your crew will notify you accordingly), bird watching and nature viewing you can do as little or as much as you like. The crew are on hand to guide and assist you as well as conveying their knowledge of local history, identifying flora and fauna, assisting you with catching that prized barramundi and sharing their rock art discoveries with you.
Excursions are undertaken via our custom built fully licensed tenders, so a moderate level of fitness is required to enter and exit the tenders. Our crew are on hand to assist you.
Fishing
Our Kimberley Quest crew are very knowledgeable and are keen to show you their best, secret fishing spots. You do not need to be a fishing expert as our friendly crew will be happy to assist you with all aspects of fishing.
All fishing is performed from our custom built excursion tenders and includes a variety of fishing options from pelagic fishing in the outer islands to casting for the ultimate saltwater barramundi in the estuarine creeks, inlets and numerous river systems.
High quality Shimano and Halco fishing equipment is available for all passengers to use. We ask that if you lose any fishing gear you replace it. For the keen fisher person, there is the possibility of bringing your own fishing gear, however due to stringent luggage restrictions we recommend you contact our office prior to your departure to ensure this is possible.
Helicopter
The helicopter is used for all scenic transfers while on a seven day cruise. Whilst we do not cruise with a helicopter onboard, we can certainly charter one in for guests that request it for that extra special scenic excursion. Please talk to your Captain whilst on board to find out the variety of helicopter flight options available.

Communications
Onboard satellite phone and facsimile available for guest usage. The best times for people to call the vessel are around dinner times. Messages to the vessel may also be relayed via our office. Please contact our office for the vessel numbers.
Phone / facsimile accounts are to be settled onboard at the completion of your cruise.
Photography
The Kimberley Quest II has all the visual equipment to let you view your photos or video footage daily. As you will have endless photo opportunities you may probably run out of memory on your camera! The Kimberley Quest crew is happy to burn your photographs onto disk for a small cost.
The Kimberley is generally a very bright environment to shoot in. Recommended film speeds to use are 100ASA [suitable for sunny days, outdoor conditions] and 400ASA for periods where there is less light available [early morning, evening, inside gorges etc].
We recommend that you bring additional camera batteries, cords and re-charging equipment. If you require another camera we do have disposable cameras onboard for purchase.
Library
One of the most extensive and up to date collections of Kimberley reference books, including flora, fauna, rock art, history, fishing, whales and geology, journals and publications, general interest novels and magazines which you can read whilst on board.
Wheelhouse
The command centre of the vessel, this area is open at all times. You are welcome to come and have a chat with the Captain, ask questions, take a book from the well stocked library and enjoy the air-conditioned comfort.
Spa
There is an 8 seater spa located on the bow of the vessel which can be heated for your use. This is a great way to relax and enjoy the spectacular Kimberley surrounds especially whilst cruising or watching the sun go down!
Laundry
There is a washing machine and dryer on board. Your hostesses will be more than happy to wash clothing for you if required. Cabin laundry bags are provided. We ask that you please be mindful of water usage.
Merchandise
Kimberley Quest II has a range of merchandise available for purchase onboard.
A range of shirts, T’shirts and shorts are available as well as slouch hats, caps, stubby coolers and disposable cameras.
Jewellery
Located in the wheelhouse, a selection of Linneys and Kailis local Broome Pearls are available for all guests to purchase. After all, why not spoil yourself and take home something special to remind you of your Kimberley holiday, you deserve it!
Swimming
Whilst onboard you will get the chance to have swim in safe, unbelievably beautiful fresh water pools. We usually swim on a daily basis. The crew carry kickboards for those that are not strong swimmers.
Smoking
There is no smoking permitted within the interior of the Kimberley Quest II or in any tender. There is a designated area on the rear top deck behind the wheelhouse.
We ask that you respect the environment by using the ash trays provided or by bringing any cigarette butts back to the vessel for appropriate disposal.
Medical
The Kimberley Quest II requests that travellers are in general good health to participate in our cruises. Please inform us if you have any medical or physical conditions that we need to be aware of. The Kimberley Quest II carries an extensive RFDS medical kit onboard for your well-being. The Royal Flying Doctor service (RFDS) is fully supported via phone consultation and instruction by qualified medical practitioners in the event of a medical emergency. The Kimberley Quest II carries general first aid kits in all tenders and accompanies all land excursions.
Please bring any medication onboard including any seasickness medication and or paracetamol.
Insurance
If for any reason evacuation is required, it is an extremely costly exercise. Not all travel insurance policies cover these unexpected circumstances, especially inclusive of “unlimited evacuation costs” which is an essential requirement when travelling in the remote Kimberley region.
